Why Cuff links?

What Can You Wear When Jogging?

I’ve recently asked myself this question after I bought a pair of casual sneakers. A reader suggested that these were only good for jogging which made me a little angry. For two reasons:

First: I didn’t buy them for jogging but for a spring-summer casual look custom made suit 

Second: I don’t have a proper jogging equipment.

This second reason is what I want to discuss with you today. You see, when you go track running, you can’t afford to layer, you can’t wear leather shoes and accessories such as hats, ties or pendants are out of the question. So what CAN you wear?

Well, it depends on the season you’re in.

During the summer, a of shorts matched custom made suit with a t-shirt, some low-cut socks and a pair of sneakers are all that you need.

But, here’s a secret for you. You can be a little more stylish than everyone else by doing one key thing. This will instantly give you extra style points, yet keep you sporty and ready to lose some weight.

Wear a polo shirt instead of a t-shirt.

Polo shirts are perfectly fine for sporting activities, yet they move you higher up the style scale. The only question is: how would you match them with your shorts and sneakers?

Match this polo shirt with a pair of white 100% cotton shorts and white or blue sneakers:

Add a white canvas belt if you can and you have a very stylish jogging outfit.

 And what about this one?

It can work well with your white shorts and a pair of white or dark blue sneakers.

Did you notice the pattern here? We’re taking whichever color is on the Polo shirts and repeat it on the shorts and sneakers. Really easy.

Ok, last one:

You guessed it, right? You can wear shorts, sneakers and low-cut socks that have either gray or red on them.

OK, let’s consider autumn and spring. Temperatures are lower, you’ll be sweating a lot so you need something that will allow you to breathe yet prevent you from catching a cold.

All you have to do is replace the shorts with some long sleeved pants and add a long-sleeved top over your t-shirt. For instance, a top like this one will allow you the t-shirt underneath to be visible:

This all means you can now layer AND have more options to introduce new colors.

As a general rule, when you assemble your jogging outfit, stick to 3 colors max. You can’t layer, you can’t wear most accessories so be sure to stick with unusual colors.

Forget about black, white and blue. Do some color combos that no one on the track will be wearing. Who knows, you might get a sporty lady to “accidentally” bump into you on the track.

Your First Visit to the Tailor

Working on your style is a wonderful and never ending process.custom suits If there’s one thing it teaches you is to pay attention to details.

But you’re not alone on this journey. There are people to help you every step of the way in putting together those amazing outfits. The tailor is one of them.

A strange feeling of calm hits you right when you walk into his workshop. A crowded little place full of stacked clothes. It’s as if you’ve stepped foot into another dimension; one far away form the noisy streets.

After about half a minutes’ wait (just enough to get accustomed with the silence), he shows up from behind a curtain. Shy and friendly, he greets you and asks you to sit down.

How may I help you? he asks.

You’re not sure. It’s your first time. So you open up your bag with your latest aquisitions and leave the rest… to him.

Please undress right over there. he politely asks you.

Oh no, do I have to? you’re thinking to yourself. But you don’t say it out loud. You know he’s been doing this for 20 years so you listen to him… to the letter.

So you take each of the clothing items you brought with yourself. You want to get this over with – getting in and out of clothes is just not your thing.

You put on the first shirt.

Yes, that’s very loose. he exclaims. The sleeves are too long, too large and there’s too much material on the sides. The length of the actual shirt is ok, on the other hand.

How long does it take to put the needles? you timidly ask.

Actually I’m almost done. Let’s put on the other 2 shirts.

There! That’s just perfect! he exclaims after marking how much he wants to shorten each dress shirt. Now let’s take a look at those chinos. How short do you want them?

Shorter than usual. I want to be able to show my socks.

Sure, I can do that. But what if you want to change your mind?

Ummm…

I’ll make them a little shorter than usualbut not too short.

Ok, no problem. Oh! i need them to fit well at the bottom. I want them to follow the body line perfectly.

Consider it done. I can’t shrink them above the knee but below it I can remove as much material as it’s necessary. There we go, sir!

Awesome! I thought this was going to take longer. Oh, wait! I have this V-neck sweater…

The sleeves look pretty good. They fit your arms very well.

Yes, but, you see, the sleeves are too long…

Sorry, there’s nothing I can do about it.

But you did the same thing for the shirt… I just want them shorter to be able to see the shirt’s sleeves from underneath it… maybe to roll up the shirts’ sleeves over it and look really stylish?

There is nothing I can do. You see how this is sewed here?

Ummm, yes.

It’s one piece. It’s not like a shirt’s cuff. I can’t open the threads, cut them, then put them back on. It will ruin the entire shirt.

Oh, ok then. So how could you shrink it then?

You see how it’s knitted on the inside of the arms and on the inside of the body? Those are the places where I can take material out. But since it fits you perfectly except for the sleeves, there’s nothing more I can do.

I see. Well, I guess that’s that. I’ll be more careful next time now that I know what you can and can’t do.

When can I come get them?

You’ll have them 2 days from today. your tailor replies.

Why, yes it is.

You’ll be very happy with how your new clothes will fit you. Fit is something overlooked by guys today. All they care about is the latest gadgetry. They forgot a lot of the old values.

Ways to Style Up A Boring Outfit

I’ve seen this over and over again: guys have a hard time making that first step to standing out with their  custom suits. They have the basics down yet they’re afraid to make a mistake.

If this is you – I hear you. I was there too and I know that it’s hard to be creative with your clothes. So here’s what I’m proposing:

Let’s cut to the chase and start with the first one (note that the tips are in no particular order).

#1 Add a pocket square

A pocket square is probably the best way you can stand out by simply adding it to any  custom suits  that incorporates a sports jacket, blazer or a vest with a front pocket.

No need to worry too much about the color: the easiest way is to match the pocket square with one of the colors on your shirt. Patterned pocket squares are okay too.

#2 Roll up your shirt’s cuffs over your sweater

This is something I’ve done a lot lately and not many guys are doing. It’s really easy to pull. You just roll over your shirt’s cuffs one length over the V-neck our round neck that you’re wearing on top.

Make sure you first roll the sweater’s sleeves before you roll the shirt’s cuffs, though. The folding will become much easier. You’ll see how the sweater actually holds the cuff in place. The buttons can’t do that as they’re unbuttoned.

#3 Roll up your pants

Rolling up pants may seem odd if you’re a new style student of mine but this is actually a hot trend. Best part: you can do this even in winter, and either show off either the top of your boots or your stylish winter socks if you’re wearing regular leather shoes

Pant rolling is not complicated, different men roll them differently.

#4 Add a bright scarf

This should probably come very easy to you. I’m sure you already have scarf in your closet but do you have them in yellow or red?

I know it’s hard if you’re a beginner to try bold colors but a scarf is a great way to start. Remember, we assumed in the beginning that you have a boring outfit that you’d like to spice out. You’re probably wearing blacks, blues, browns or greens so why not go for a red or a yellow scarf?

#5 Add a watch

You might find wearing a watch to be superfluous since you have your cell phone with you at all times. But watches are still a style statement and wearing one will send subtle signals to everyone else that you value your time.

One thing, though. A watch can’t do much on it’s only to spice up an outfit unless it’s a colored watch. Unless you have money for a Breitling watch (which will probably kick-a$$), consider a colored watch.

Surprisingly, colored watches have made their way into men’s style so, if you think they look cool, I suggest you try them. Who knows, maybe this is just a fad that will disappear in a year or 2.

#6 Wear cuff links

Any accessory will spice up an outfit but few can do it as well as cuff links. You will of course need a french cuffed shirt but it’s a great investment.

Very few men are wearing cuff links because they can’t be attached to a regular shirt and they take longer to put on and to take off. In a world where everyone is in a hurry, take a few extra seconds to relax and put on a pair of cuff links. You’ll feel good.

#7 Wear a classic umbrella

I know we’re all used to seeing those compact umbrellas which are very practical. They’re easy to hold and they fit well into any bag. Who wouldn’t want one?

A stylish man, that’s who. A classic umbrella is something you’ll see very rarely on the streets these days. If you’re just going for a walk in the park try one and you won’t be disappointed.

#8 Try no-show socks

No show socks actually create the illusion that you’re not wearing any. This is the best way to get that sockless look that so many men have adopted over the past few years. The outfit might still look dull… up to the point the eyes fall down to your feet.

#9 Get an outstanding pair of shoes

Here’s a revelation that I had a while back: shoes that are stylish and that stand out on their own cost just as much as those square-toed, thick-soled boring shoes.

I bought a pair of shoes that actually have 3 colors on them: green, camel and dark brown. You have no idea how much attention they get on the street.

Now, if you’re wearing a simple outfit, such shoes will stand out even more. I wrote a few times about some amazing shoes that you can find in stores (though it won’t be easy).

#10 Wear an ascot tie

Think of an ascot tie as something between a tie and a scarf. It has a little from both worlds and it’s really classy. As long as you’re wearing a dress shirt, you can just throw an ascot to the mix.

How To Dress Well On A Budget

A lot of times we’re on a budget. Oh wait, let me rephrase that: most of the times we’re on a budget when we go shopping. Even me.

That’s right. Even though I run one of the best men’s style advice blogs, this doesn’t mean that I can go into malls to get whatever I want, whenever I want,for whatever price they’re asking.

Just like my style students, I keep in mind and apply dozens of principles that allow me to save lots of money, spend less time shopping and get higher quality wedding suit for men.

In a few moments you’ll know the most important tips for shopping on a budget as well… and now you have NO excuse not to dress stylishly.

Do you ever take flyers from pretty girls? Do you pay attention to commercials that announce huge discounts? Do you notice those big billboards with special offers?

1. Make a list of ALL the outlets in your town. Ways you can find out about them include:

- searching the web

- asking your friends (especially female friends)

- paying attention to the stores you pass by downtown. One of them could be an outlet

Don’t wait for the list to grow too big before you start visiting them. You need to know right away if an outlet is either a good resource, or if it has crappy clothes in which case you can just delete it from your list.

2. Start saving money for the big discount periods.
Twice a year, clothing retailers are emptying their stock to make room for the new collections. January, February, August and September of each year can offer you discounts of up to 75%… wherever you live in the world.

3. Never Ever Miss Black Friday

Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day but it recently got popular in other countries besides USA. This particular day signals the beginning of the Christmas shopping season and retailers (not just in clothing) offer huge discounts.

This is your chance to buy as much as you can. Pay attention to other details such as fabric and fit, like I taught you.

4. When You Can, Buy Online

I don’t recommend that you buy your clothes online but things change when it comes to some accessories.

You can find better deals online for cuff links, ties, bow ties, ascot ties, belts, pendants, casual rings, leather bracelets and so on.

Furthermore, because online shops have fewer costs, many of them are willing to offer personalized clothing . That’s something you just can’t get in a brick-and-mortar store.

But there’s one other thing that you can buy online for a MUCH better price than that from retail stores. Furthermore, this one thing will be exactly what you’re looking for, you’ll never return it.

Know what it is? One word: perfumes.

Here’s how you buy the right perfume on a budget. First you go to any big perfume retail store and you try on lots and lots of perfumes.Then, you order your favorite one online.
